A very accomplished 12 year old single cask
This is the fifth whisky in the August 17th range, after the 3, 5, 7 and 10 year olds. A whisky of exceptional maturity, smooth and balanced, combining power and generosity of flavour.
Accompaniments and advice for August 17th Whisky
August 17th Marcus is eaten at the end of a good meal. It is recommended not to add ice cubes as the cold affects the volatility of the aromas and the perception of taste in the mouth. The ideal temperature for tasting it is room temperature (around 21°C). It goes wonderfully well with a piece of dark chocolate or a good cigar.
Cellar Master's Notes
- Nose: for a 60% whisky, the alcohol is not perceptible. Vanilla sugar, but also ripe fruit with an exotic flavour. Very well-balanced, it benefits from simple aeration, so there's no need to add a few drops of water.
- Palate: a very well-balanced whisky that gives just the right amount of wood, spice and candied fruit, with hints of caramel and coffee. Lots of flavour and not too dry.
- Finish: a stronger Port influence. This caramelised aspect will remain for a long time, with long notes of fruit in syrup, again with wood and spices.
